ABOUT THE MINISTRY OF MINES AND PETROLEUM:
The Turkmenistan- Afghanistan- Pakistan- India Natural Gas Pipeline (TAPI) project aims to export up to 33 billion cubic meters of natural gas per year through, a proposed, approximately 1,814 km pipeline from Turkmenistan to Afghanistan, Pakistan and India.
The Afghan Ministry of Mines and Petroleum of Afghanistan is in charge of managing and coordinating project-related activities among Afghan stakeholders. The TAPI Project Coordination Directorate was established under the Ministry of Mines and Petroleum in 2016 and is tasked with working as a management, cooperating, and coordination body between the government of Afghanistan, the TAPI Pipeline Company Limited (TPCL), and other stakeholders of the TAPI project.
The ministry of mines and petroleum collaborates closely with all stakeholders to expedite and pave the way for improved coordination of TAPI activities within Afghanistan, as well as to represent Afghanistan at TAPI project stakeholders' meetings. Furthermore, the ministry acts as a single point of contact for managing, coordinating, reporting, and collaborating with stakeholders on TAPI project-related issues.
JOB SUMMARY:
The Senior Petroleum and Gas specialist will be responsible to provide technical expertise and support from an engineering perspective to ensure safe and effective design and construction of TAPI gas pipeline in accordance with the corporate strategic plan.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- The senior petroleum and gas specialist shall provide technical support to the TAPI Engineering team to ensure the highest standards in the project implementation.
- To conduct technical review of all documents of the project and provide expert advices to the TAPI coordination directorate.
- Provide assistance to ensuring adequate standards of technical documentation and contributes in execution of standards.
- Writing memos on any technical part of the pipeline as directed by the Engineering team of the project.
- Assist in reviewing technical documents as directed during all phases of the project implementation. Assist in checking out results of surveys carried out by sub-contractors or any other related to the TAPI Project. Assists with reviewing installation design analysis for the pipeline system.
- Assist the engineering team in bid assessment evaluation and procurements phases and providing technical inputs.
- Assist in analyzing and calculation notes required to design the pipelines system including the engineering activities of third parties/sub-contractors.
- Assist in defining standards and procedures for the relative engineering area and contribute to software evaluations.
- Performs other related duties as required or given by supervisor.
REQUIRMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor or master degree in Petroleum Engineering. The preference will be given to the higher degree.
- At least 4 years of work experience in relevant field for bachelor and 2 years for master.
- Fluency in Pashto/ Dari/ English languages and Microsoft Office programs.
- Be familiar with the software used in the oil & gas sector
- The Incumbent should have strong written and oral communication and other interpersonal.
