Muhammad Atiq Zaki: In Democratic Systems, Access to Information is one of the Most Important Elements of Good Governance

Public awareness program about Access to Information was attended by Mohammad Atiq Zaki, Deputy Minister of Policy and extracting programs of the MoMP, Hamdullah Arbab, the Commissioner for Access to Information, representatives of the Commission and the staff of MoMP.

Deputy Minister of Policy and extractive Programs of MoMP said, “In Democratic Systems, Access to Information is one of the most important elements of good governance.” without ensuring the right of Access to Information, a country would not be able to fight corruption, strengthen the principle of accountability and ensure integrity in its structure. Therefore, access to information is the right of each citizen and ensuring access to information is the responsibility of every governmental administration.

During the meeting Mr. Zaki also provided comprehensive information about the implementation of Law of Access to Information regarding to the programs of the MoMP.

The commissioner of Access to Information, Hamdllah Arbab, thanked the Ministry of Mines and Petroleum for cooperating with the commission in the field of information and said that the Ministry of Mines and Petroleum is a responsive Administration in the implementation of the law of access to information.

He added: Governmental Administrations are responsible for the service of offering information and to be responsive to the people.

At the end of the program, a presentation about access to information, was presented by the members of the commission to the staff of MoMP.
