Construction works on the Herat section of the TAPI gas pipeline are progressing rapidly across various work areas within Afghanistan, with significant progress achieved in key components of the project. Currently, out of approximately 153 kilometers of the TAPI pipeline route within Herat Province, 150.3 kilometers have been prepared for pipeline installation, representing 98 percent progress in this component of the project. Meanwhile, construction works on connective and monitoring roads are also progressing significantly. So far, 134.2 kilometers of road have been constructed and completed. At the same time, 122.3 kilometers of the pipeline have been welded and laid so far, representing nearly 80 percent progress in this component. Of this total, 71.5 kilometers of the pipeline has been buried underground. In order to ensure the quality, safety, and compliance of the pipeline with the required technical standards, hydrostatic testing has also been completed on 33 kilometers of the pipeline so far. Furthermore, the design of the gas distribution network in Herat Province is currently underway, and practical construction works on the network are expected to commence in the near future. Upon completion of the gas distribution network, gas will be supplied to industrial, commercial, and residential areas across Herat Province. This will not only contribute to meeting energy needs but will also create opportunities to increase economic activities and industrial development in the province.
