Minister of Mines and Petroleum Meets the Chairman of MJAM Company
Mr. Hedayatullah Badri, Minister of Mines and Petroleum, on Tuesday 5/5/2026 met the Ambassador of People's Republic of China, the President of MCCT, the Chairman of MJAM the contractor for the Aynak Copper Project and their accompanying delegation. The meeting focused on the non-implementation of contractual mining activities stipulated in the Mining Contract, as well the overall progress of the project.
During the meeting, detailed discussions were held regarding the contractor’s failure to fulfill the obligations and commitments set forth in the Aynak Copper Mining Contract, which had previously been formally communicated to the company. The President of MCCT assured that the outstanding mining operations and activities, which have so far remained unfulfilled in accordance with the provisions of the contract, will be carried out.
The Minister of Mines and Petroleum emphasized that the company must act in full compliance with the terms, conditions, obligations, and contractual commitments outlined in the Mining Contract, as well as adhere to the Ministry’s formal written directives. He further stressed the necessity of taking concrete and practical steps toward the full implementation and advancement of all project activities.
