Summary:

The Oil & Gas Processing Engineer is responsible for designing, analyzing, and optimizing oil and gas processing systems, including separation, dehydration, sweetening, gas compression, and fluid handling. Should ensure safe, efficient, and reliable processing operations to maximize production and meet technical standards.

Key Responsibilities

1. Design and optimize process systems such as separators, heaters, stabilizers, gathering unit, dehydration units, and gas processing equipment.
2. Develop and update Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs) and Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs).
3. Perform mass and energy balance calculations for oil, gas, and water streams.
4. Optimize production processes to reduce losses, energy consumption, and downtime.
5. Provide daily technical assistance to field operations and control room teams.
6. Analyze process parameters and troubleshoot field processing issues.
7. Recommend operational adjustments to stabilize production and meet specifications.
8. Monitor performance of key processing equipment (pumps, compressors, heat exchangers, separators).
9. Ensure all processing operations comply with international oil and gas standards (API, ASME, ASTM).
10. Participate in HAZOP, HAZID, and risk assessment studies for new and existing facilities.
11. Support implementation of Process Safety Management (PSM).
12. Identify hazards and propose safety improvements.
13. Conduct performance monitoring for separation efficiency, gas quality, crude oil specifications, and dehydration levels.
14. Evaluate process upsets and perform root cause analysis (RCA).
15. Prepare technical reports, operational guidelines, and improvement recommendations.
16. Use simulation software (HYSYS, Aspen HYSIM) to model process behavior.
17. Assist in engineering design reviews for new projects or plant modifications.
18. Support procurement by preparing technical specifications for process equipment.
19. Provide supervision during installation, pre-commissioning, and commissioning of processing units.
20. Participate in start-up activities and ensure stable plant operation.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering, or Petroleum Engineering (Master’s preferred).
• 5–7 years of experience as a process engineer in the oil & gas industry.
• Strong knowledge of:
  • Oil & gas separation processes
  • Dehydration and desalting
  • Gas sweetening and compression
  • Fluid mechanics & thermodynamics
• Proficiency in simulation tools (HYSYS, Aspen Plus).
• Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
• Excellent communication and reporting abilities.
