Herat Salt Mine Contract Signed

Mr. Hedayatullah Badri, Minister of Mines and Petroleum,on 4th of June 2026 signed the contract for the Second Block of the Namaksar Salt Mine located in Ghorian District of Herat Province. The project covers an area of 9.7 square kilometers and will be implemented with investment of (20,045,000)USD by the Red Gold Asia Mining Company.

During the contract signing, the Minister of Mines and Petroleum said that the agreement has been concluded for a period of 15 years with a royalty rate of (1,500) AFN per ton, and the company will conduct its mining activities in accordance with the Mining Law and procedures.

It is mentionable that, in addition to royalty payments, the company will invest (930,000)USD in social services and is expected to create employment opportunities for approximately 100 individuals.
