Efforts by MoMP to attract investment in precious and semi-precious stones

Muhammad Hameed Yousufi, Deputy Minister of Finance and Administration, Ministry of Mines and Petroleum met with the representatives of Gem Stone Company via video conference and discussed the opportunities for investment in precious and semi-precious stones. The meeting was also attended by General Director of Cadaster of the MoMP and representatives from Afghanistan Investment Facilitation Unit of the Office of the President.

Representatives of the Gem stone provided information about their activities. In addition to expressing their concerns about the investment they also announced their readiness to build precious and semi-precious stone’s processing center in Afghanistan.

Deputy Minister, Muhammad Hameed Yousufi talked about the investment opportunities and said that, in addition to providing legal facilities to facilitate investment, efforts are underway by MoMP to prevent illegal mining.

At the end, the meeting decided and asked Gem Stone Company to provide their Business Plan about the precious and semi-precious stones, so that the government revenue is increased and job opportunities are created.
