Chief of Staff to the Ministery of Mines and Petroleum Meets with Uzbek Investors

Mr. Abdul Halim Adel, Chief of Staff to the Ministery of Mines and Petroleum, on Thursday, 23 July 2026, met with delegation from Uzbekistan and their accompanying members at the Ministry’s office. The meeting was attended by Mr. Engineer Abdullah Haidari, General Director of Geological Survey and Exploration, along with a number of directors, advisors, and central officials of the Ministry.

During the meeting, both sides discussed and exchanged views about investment opportunities in Afghanistan’s mineral resources sector. The Uzbek delegation expressed their interest in investing in the country’s mining sector, particularly in lead and zinc mines, as well as establishing a standard processing plant for the mentioned minerals.

Chief of Staff to the Ministery of Mines and Petroleum welcomed the interest of Uzbek investors in Afghanistan’s mineral resources, stating that Afghanistan is one of the rich countries in mineral reserves. He added that all local and foreign investors can participate in bidding processes and invest in the mining sector in accordance with the policies of the Islamic Emirate and the country’s applicable laws.

At the end, he assured investors of the Ministry of Mines and Petroleum’s cooperation and support within the framework of mining laws and regulations, and emphasized the creation of suitable and great opportunities to attract investment in the mining sector.
