About Ministry of Mines and Petroleum
Job Summary
The Ministry of Mines and Petroleum is seeking an Afghan national for the post of Senior Specialist of Mining Economics. The Senior Specialist of Mining Economics is responsible for implementing and developing educational programs in mining economics (design of technical and economic mining projects) to enhance professional capacity building in the field of economic and technical assessments of mining projects in the center and provinces.
Duties & Responsibilities

Complete knowledge of economic analysis and evaluation of mining projects, management, and planning of financial resources in mines.

Manage, design, and implement technical plans and procedures to achieve program tasks and objectives.

Proficiency with feasibility studies in the mining sector.

Monitoring the economic impacts of mining activities on the environment for sustainable development.

Cooperation and relationships with research institutions, universities, and international organizations to develop knowledge in mining economics.

Proficiency with analysis and evaluation of proposals and mineral prices.

Research experience including quantitative and qualitative analysis and proficiency with the methods of mining research and its publication in national and international journals.

Proficiency with modeling, design, and stabilization software for mining resources such as (Datamine), (Micromine), (MineSight), (Surpace).

Managing administrative resources within specified limits.

Contribute to strategy development and its implementation across the entire administration or its implementation in the relevant department.

Making decisions, planning, and finding solutions to various challenges.

Ability to prepare and organize a strategy for administration and be responsible for managing finances, human resources, and technical areas.
Management & Coordination tasks
-
Oversee the collection, organization, and maintenance of spatial data related to mineral resources, such as geological maps, drilling data, sampling, and mineral analysis to stabilize resources.

Analysis and evaluation of mining economic laws and regulations.

Effective evaluation of the training courses conducted by distributing questionnaires to the dispatched professional staff and fully addressing their responses.

Cooperate in coordination with scientific and research institutions to transfer new mining information and share it with professional employees.

Organizing regular and effective training programs in the field of mining economics for employees of the central and provincial directorates of the Ministry of Mines and Petroleum in order to raise the level of modern economic knowledge.

Ensuring the implementation of training programs and distribution of educational materials to raise the level of awareness of technical staff with high standards developed at the center and provinces.
Job Requirements

At Least a Master’s Degree or equivalent in Mining Economics (PhD Preferred).

Seven years of work experience required for a Bachelor's degree and five years for a Master's degree in relevant fields."

Fluency in Pashto, Dari, and English languages.

Computer skills (MS Office and job-related software).

Priority will be given to candidates who demonstrate a high level of motivation, good communication, hardworking and interpersonal skills.
