Shirzad District Talc Mine Contract Signed

 Mr. Hedayatullah Badri, Minister of Mines and Petroleum, on September 8, 2026 signed the contract for the second block of the Talc Mine located in the Kudi Khel area of Shirzad District, Nangarhar Province, with the Chairman of Nangarhar Afghan Talc Mining and Processing Company at his office.
The mine covers an area of (3.826394) square kilometers, and the contract is valued at (65,865,000) USD.
During the signing ceremony, the Minister of Mines and Petroleum said that the implementation of the talc mining and processing project would create employment opportunities for local residents.
He stressed that the mining and processing operations must be carried out in accordance with applicable laws, technical standards, and established procedures. In addition, under the contract, the contracting company will pay a royalty of (2265) AFN per ton of talc to the Islamic Emirate.
Meanwhile, the chairman of the contracting company assured that the extraction of mine, processing, and other related activities would be carried out professionally.
