Ministry of Mines and Petroleum and the Local Administration of Helmand Province, shared necessary advice on better mining management in that province

Minister of Mines and Petroleum Muhammad Haroon Chakhansuri, spoke with Helmand Governor Brigadier General Abdul Nabi Elham via a video conference this afternoon.

During the meeting, a comprehensive discussion was held on the management of Helmand's mineral resources, effective utilization of Helmand's extractive opportunities, the prevention of smuggling and illegal mining, and the exploration of other mineral resources.

The Ministry has plans for the surveys of oil and gas and also other economic and mineral resources in Helmand area, Mr. Chankhasuri added.

Mr. Chakhansuri said, "Helmand has huge potential for mineral resources. We plan to use these capacities effectively in the light of clear mechanisms in order to create jobs opportunities, strengthen public participation and take effective advantage of economic well-being”.
