About Ministry of Mines and Petroleum (MoMP)

Main tasks and responsibilities:

  • Perform geophysical & geological studies and interpretation resulting in the estimation of prospective resources, the probability of success, and the risks.
  • Rank prospects, drilling candidates, and new ventures opportunities.
  • Participate and give input to the definition of the exploration strategy within the asset.
  • Work with a high degree of autonomy and maturity concerning G&G analysis.
  • Provide technical support and training to the APA staff.
  • Reviewing, recommending and approval of Exploration works in the Work Program & Budget (WP&B)
  • Provide technical support in reviewing applications from operators for licenses permits and approvals pursuant to the law and regulations
  • Ensuring that all technical work is of a high and consistent standard.
  • Provide technical assistance in the development of guidelines for exploration activities and G&G surveys.
  • Technical assistance in the administration of Exploration activities and G&G surveys according to EPSC, Hydrocarbon Law and Hydrocarbon Regulation
  • Review commercial discover declared by the contractor along with the related reports and provide recommendations
  • Develops and maintains inventory of petroleum prospects.
  • Leading and managing geoscience team and providing information and recommendations to the Executive Management team.
  • Overall responsible for monitoring and regulation the exploration activities and G&G surveys.

 

Recruitment Qualifications and Core Competencies:

Master’s degree in Geology and petroleum and Gas with 4 years of relevant work experience.

Needed skills:

  • Supervision of Junior staff
  • Excellent analytical skills and the ability to summarize disparate information in a clear and concise manner
  • Ability to create organizational work plans based on higherlevel goals
  • Ability to lead and coordinate multiple offices through multiple step processes without being a direct supervisor (although appropriate authority will be given).
  • Excellent communication skills and a demonstrated experience in the use of training and information dissemination to transfer concepts and skills in the public and private sectors
  • Selfmotivating, reliable, consistent and mature approach to work
  • Able to work independently and in teams Self-motivated with a drive for results, improvement and innovation
  • Excellent knowledge of Dari/Pashto and English languages and must be able to communicate fluently in English.
  • Excellent computer and presentation skills, with MS. Office (Word, Excel, Power Point).
