Subject: Exploration of Vulnerable and Threatened Areas in terms of Tectonic Activities

Under Study Area: Badakhshan Province

Objective of Study: Badakhshan province is considered to be an active zone in terms of tectonic activities. In order to prevent personal and financial losses from natural disasters, the Seismic Team conducted study in vulnerable and high-risk areas, to determine the nature of risk and severity of natural disaster threats in the districts of Zebak, Shaghnan, Orgun and Tashkan of Badakhshan Province.

Performed Activities:

  • Identification of 50 vulnerable and endangered areas (due to landslides, floods and earthquakes)
  • Determining the severity of natural disasters and threats and also, distributed them into A, B, C categories
