Job Summary

The Ministry of Mines and Petroleum is seeking an Afghan national for the post of Senior Economic Adviser in the Office of the Minister. The Senior Economic Adviser will be responsible to the MOMP and will work closely with other advisers and colleagues in the Ministry on a range of programs and activities to address the challenges and opportunities for the sustainable development and governance of Afghanistan’s mineral and hydrocarbon resources and extractive industries in line with international best practice, and administrative & Economic activities and etc.

Duties & Responsibilities

1. Develop an action plan on Economic Advisory of all MoMP Authority activities.
2. Provide advice and support in all matters related to the economic development of the extractive industries in Afghanistan
3. Assist in the drafting and revision of technical documentation
4. Undertake assigned research relating to the economic development of the extractive sector
5. Monitor economic issues affecting the extractive sector worldwide
6. Undertake collaborative work with other advisers and Ministry colleagues on a variety of projects
7. Performing any other tasks assigned by the minister based on laws, regulations and objectives of organization.

8. Develop policy and strategy to manage conflicting priorities, and effective management of human, financial and others.

9. Ability to implement working leadership model in the organization, maximizing the contribution of team.

10. Ability to professionally communicate about the organization and represent the organization/project at national and international level.

11. The Senior Economic Advisor will do Close work with the Ministry structure Committee.

12. The Senior Economic Advisor should Participate and work with the Strategic Plan.

13. The Senior Economic Advisor should work closely with the Chief of Staff, General Directorate.   

14. Any other tasks and duties assigned by H.E. the Minister.

Job Requirements

1. At least Bachelor or Master’s degree economics, development economics, public administration, international development, or a related field.
2. At least 10 years of experience with Bachelor degree and 5 years of experience with Master degree in the public or private sector related to the field.
3. Experience of project-based work.
4. Ability to review and contribute to policy and strategy development.
5. He should possess excellent writing, editing, and speaking skills in Dari, Pashto and English.
6. Priority will be given to candidates who demonstrate a high level of motivation and good communication, hardworking and interpersonal skills.
7. He must be well versed in MS Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint etc.
8. Research skills, English language skills, Time management skills, and Good communication skills, Office administrative and computing skills.
9. Flexibility and enthusiasm
10. Ability to participate in discussion and operate as part of a multinational team
