Takhar Province Mineral Appearances
Due to its geographical location and geological structure, Afghanistan is among few countries with vast natural resources. These reserves exist in all provinces across Afghanistan, and in order to achieve balanced development, it is a favorable source for sustainable income. And also, Afghans expect that the extraction and exploitation of these mines will keep Afghanistan's economic and development cycle keep moving for long time, which itself will lead to the economic growth and development.
The northern Takhar province is rich in mineral appearances. Takhar shares borders with Tajikistan in the north, Badakhshan province in the east, Baghlan and Panjshir provinces in the south and Kunduz in the west. According to the National Statistics and Information Authority, Takhar’s population is estimated at 1,093,092.
According to the Geological Survey of Afghanistan and the information obtained by the directorate of Takhar Mines Department, the province has various natural and mineral appearances, of which 29 areas have been listed in the table below:
