AEITI held its 48th meeting
Acting Minister of Mines and Petroleum Muhammad Haroon Chakhansori participated in the 48th AEITI (Afghanistan Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative.
In addition to MoMP officials, the meeting was attended by Deputy Minister of Revenue and Customs, AEITI members, representatives from private sector and members of civil society.
Acting Minister of Mines and Petroleum, Muhammad Haroon Chakhansori said that Afghanistan was able to reclaim its credentials on the basis of 1st report which was sent to MoMP by AEITI. The report indicates that out of 27 indicators, 19 were satisfactory, 5 significant and the remaining 2 had excellent progress, and brought Afghanistan’s membership out of stalemate.
He added that, we have gathered to bring transparency to the mining sector, and for this, we ask the Multi-Stakeholder Group members to accelerate their cooperation.
The meeting also discussed the first draft of the 7th report, elections of the private sector and civil society, discrepancies in the figures of contracts from the years 1395 and 1396 and audit of enterprises. Necessary decisions were made by the Multi-Stakeholder Group.
