  1. Scope of Work

Welding inspector officer do Monitoring compliance for the activities involved with laying and welding pipes and the maintenance of the finished product. Etc.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ensure compliance with all safety standards and regulations during the construction of a gas or water pipeline Issuing welding tickets to company workers.
  • Checking welding specifications.
  • Review plans, inspect welding calibrations, look over materials and welding equipment, monitor heating values, document findings, file reports, and test systems before approving.
  • Assist with pre-welding by checking the environment and confirming cutting methods, joint positions, and welder settings.
  • Ensuring the correct equipment and materials are being used for a weld.
  • Inspecting completed welds.
  • Assessing the quality and strength of completed welds.
  • Suggesting alternative welding techniques.
  • Demonstrating correct welding procedures.
  • Implementation new welding techniques as per indulding best practice .
  • Maintaining a clean and safe work area.
  • Ensuring welders adhere to state health and safety regulations.
  • Perform surveillance Inspection to ensure that the construction work is performed and duly meeting the project specific Quality Requirements.
  • To verify that incoming materials meet the specifications.
  • Prepare test package documents (ITP, test reports etc.).
  • Document and maintain all inspection records as per contract/specifications.
  • Perform inspection at vendors shop facilities and work-sites, on fabricated pipes, steel structure, blasting, painting works, galvanizing or other installation works per ASME and ANSI codes, including verification of tests at their premises.
  • Verify in process inspection, final inspection and welding which includes the following,
  • § To check for weld joint preparations, fit-up alignment, dimensional tolerances and visual check on weld.
  • § To monitor welders’ performance and the welding procedures to check for compliance.
  • s To witness and verify the welding procedures qualification tests and welders’ performance qualification tests.
  • § To brief the welders about WPS requirements and repair welding sequence.
  • § To prepare and submit the WPS to Client for review and approval.
  • § To implement and monitor proper storage, handling and usage of welding equipment and welding filter rods.
  • § To prepare repair weld method statement as per client’s recommendation and project requirements.
  • § To liaise with NDT sub-contractors for NDT and requests to be prepared.a
  • § To review NDE reports before review by Client’s Inspaector.
  • § To view and interpret radiograph films before review by Client’s Inspector.
  • § To follow-up on corrective action of non-conforming products.
  • § To prepare and maintain qualified welder master list, weld repair log sheet and RT master list.
  • § To prepare welder’s ID card and submit to Client for approval.

Qualification and Experience:

  • Minim Bachelor Degree in relevant field
  • · Certified Welding Inspector or (AWS/CSWIP3.1)
  • · Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in Inspection and Quality Control of Construction for Power, Oil and Chemical Plants.
  • · Familiar with ASME codes & standards:
  • Familiar with welding processes SMAW, GTAW, and SAW.
  • CSA W178.2 Welding Inspector Certification

Skills and Abilities:

  •  Good leadership, communication and inter-personal skills, with demonstrable ability
  • to motivate others.
  • Fluent in English.
  • Computer literate with a working knowledge of MS Office.
  • Identify and define technical and administrative problems, identify and evaluate
  • alternative solutions, and select and implement the best alternative
  • Prepare plan correction reports
  • Review proposed projects to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements
  • Communicate effectively in oral and written form
  • Knowledge of pipeline construction methods and technologies in API and ASME standards.
  • Knowledge of construction methods and technologies, and ability to interpret technical drawings and contract.
